SUFFOLK COUNTY "SAFE PETS AND FAMILIES LAW"... 01/10/01 Already in effect ... Suffolk County Law Article III [Adopted 12-19-2000 by Res. No. 1273-2000; amended in its entirety 4-24-2001 by Res. No. 312-2001] New law provides protection and temporary shelter for up to 90 days of a family pet involved in a domestic violence victim environment...

 

SUFFOLK COUNTY "DANGEROUS DOG" LAW... 01/10/01 Already in effect ... Suffolk County Law Article III adopted 08/28/01 by L.L. 13-2001 introduced by Leg. Andrew Crecca to expand the Agriculture and Markets Law to include protecting your pets from other uncontrolled dangerous dogs...

 

UNLAWFUL ANIMAL CONFINEMENT IN MOTOR VEHICLE LAW... 01/10/01 Already in effect ... Suffolk County Law Article I adopted 06/24/86 by L.L. 17-1986 making it a violation of law to trap your pet inside of a motor vehicle unattended without proper ventilation and authorizes law enforcement, exempt from civil or criminal liability, to break and enter any vehicle to rescue a trapped animal inside...KEEP YOUR CAR WINDOWS DOWN ON HOT OR SUNNY DAYS...

 

NEW YORK STATE NOW MAKES CRUELTY TO ANIMALS A FELONY IN FINDINGS OF AGGRAVATED CIRCUMSTANCES ...AGRICULTURE AND MARKETS LAWS ARTICLE 26 Section 353-a... 12/01/01...Effective 11/01/99 Governor Pataki finally signed the new so-called "Buster's Law" or "Felony Cruelty to Animals Law". Buster's Law was named after an 18-month-old tabby cat named Buster that was doused with kerosene and burned to death by a Schenectady teenager in 1997 - and to further prevent egregious animal abuse against defenseless animals including those animals who had been thrown from windows, used for target practice, subjected to hangings and intentionally and sadistically starved to death...
